bugs or no bugs?

Once I was standing in Fr. Paul's office and a sister came to the open door with a mason jar in her hand. She and several behind her were upset and concerned because they said there were bugs in some of the rooms. They had managed to capture several small bugs and place them in the jar.

Fr. Paul was standing and bent over to look in the jar. He leaned over staring in the jar for a second saying nothing, then tilted his head a little to one side, moving closer to the jar, squinting his eyes, and then abruptly stood up and with a somewhat dumbfounded but serious expression on his face said, "I don't see any bugs!"

Years later I think he very well might not have!
